PROJECT 365::2010

As a photographer, I am constantly brought to the awareness of how quickly time flies by. When I am trying to capture an image at 1/250 of a second, it's a pretty constant reminder of how fleeting a moment is and it's a thrill to have caught that fraction of a second in time. We photographers are hired to 'freeze frame' second after second, in hopes of gifting our clients with tangible evidence of a memory they will cherish forever ~ baby bumps and toes, magical stolen glances between a bride and groom as they exchange wedding vows, the large sparkling eyes of a child. Which brings me to the importance of Project 365 and why I am participating in such a simple, yet brilliant idea.

One photograph a day for 2010, taken anywhere, anytime and with whatever camera I have on hand. Not only will it serve as a great way to remember the year, but it's a great way to build on photography skills! The camera pretty much goes everywhere with me anyhow, and if that's not available, I have my trusty cell cam. As long as I am documenting! Things I will document include: places I visit, people I meet, my kids' neverending antics, my pets, others' pets, a new dish I created, something that made me smile! I will post the photographs every few days, including a little jot about the photo itself and day taken. Not only will it help me to remember 2010 in a fantastic way, but you can learn a tad about me (& my biz) as well!

So, without further ado, I would like to kick off 2010 with my first series of photographs from January 1st (a few strokes past midnight) until today, January 6th, 2010...

January 1

This photograph was taken a few minutes into 2010, in Tillsonburg, Ontario. I was with members of the Tillsonburg Photo Club who were documenting the town's New Years events for the Tillsonburg News. These ladies were so happy and in such a celebratory spirit, I couldn't resist asking them for a snapshot!

January 2

First major snowfall in my hometown of St.Thomas, Ontario. My birdfeeder the next morning...

January 3

We love making pancakes on a Sunday morning. And so we thought Poko deserved a pancake of his own as well! He gets one everytime we make pancakes now.. ;)

January 4

Harley loves to show me his schoolwork. Here my little artist explains why he chose the colours he did for each word..he said the light blue was for Mommy and her business! :) That's my boy!

January 5

I was so inspired by the 'winter wonderland' we've had this week! These are the trees that tower over our backyard. The snow is all covered by a light layer of ice, which makes these trees look magical! I call this 'Nature's Skyscrapers'.

January 6

When I stomped through the snow yesterday, I was disappointed to not see any icicles hanging off our eaves...until this afternoon, spotted this one! Another photo moment... :)

Anyone can do the 365 Project! Grab any cam, take a walk and find something interesting to you or take a pic of something important to you. It's about getting inspired, getting creative and remembering 2010.

Capturing you spirit,
