My First Photog Assignment ~ A Study of Light

Already into February, and I have had my very first photography assignment come and go. It was based on a glass of water + one prop. Simple background. Capture light in different forms. Natural light, no flash. Auto mode.

When I first heard of the assignment, I thought of the ways I could make a glass of
H2O interesting. Used a fancier wine glass for starters..couldn't really justify using our everyday plastic, scratched up and faded glasses. Used bottled water (just a little cleaner) and carbonated (for the bubbles!). My first prop was a beautiful stained glass dish I cherish and admire..given to me by my brother Joe and Susie as an anniversary gift a few years back. Of course, stained glass captures light beautifully..and the effects were great. Then tried a gerber daisy as prop. Love gerbers, they are so elegant yet simple. Also, took a fun suggestion from my friend Krista and used an action figure floating in the water, much to the amusement of the boys. Used a Luke Skywalker figure. :)

All in all, I had to choose only THREE of these photos to submit. I actually had a very hard time doing so..considered switching a couple at the last second, but with the help of so many opinions of others, settled on the three coming up. Posted the finalists too!

Later!
R..
